ghost ranch workshop

Surrounded by the landscape made famous by Georgia O’keeffe (a resident of Ghost Ranch for many years) we will explore paint and mark making.  We will honor the creative spirit of the  rocks and land by working with our hands and focusing internally through visualizations that stimulate the creative muse, and meditations that connect us to source through walking, reflection and painting.

Our materials will be pencil, mud, charcoal, pastel, oil sticks, and paint on quality paper. We will draw, paint, collage combine, scrap, add, subtract, and bind together our work into something larger than their parts.

Ghost Ranch provides opportunities for those who value learning and see education as a means for individual and social transformation. We believe that true education engages both head and heart. Our programs combine discussion and hands-on experiences to help participants expand their sense of self and world.

Students will then build, add, subtract, layer, emboss, melt, paint, collage, and bind together their work into something larger than their parts.  Spontaneous exercises will be provided to give new ways to approach technique and process.  There will be time set aside for group discussions and critiques on the process of the practical, outrageous, and the philosophical.
